Amnye Machen halfway trek offers the best trekking experience in eastern Amdo, the Tibetan area of Qinghai Province. This sacred mountain is being worshipped by Buddhists as well as Bon followers. The local mountain god Amnye Machen is to be subsumed under Amdo of three major Tibet provinces, which other two are U-tsang and Kham. It encompasses over one third of the Tibetan plateau and is the one and only impute to be the most sacred mountain in the eastern Tibetan plateau. It has an area size of 660 acre and has 13 peaks, of which the highest peak rises over 6082m above the sea level and the fifth Dalai Lama called it the Ever-white Peak. The rest of the peaks are equally raised over 4900 meters and snow capped all through out the year. You do not need a travel permit to visit this travel destination in Amdo except a visa to China. Day 1: Xining - Lake Kokonor - Chabcha
- Altitude: 3200m
- Distance: 215km
- Time: ≈ 5hours
- Accommodation: Hotel in Chabcha town
In the morning drive to Lake Kokonor (Chinese: Qinghai Hu), the largest salt water lake in China and a sacred, historic place for Tibetans. Exploring at the lake is a good chance to experience the diversity of nature and the changes occuring in the environment of the Tibetan Plateau. Interact with locals and feel free to ask questions, your translator will assist you! After that, we will drive to Chabcha town.
Day 2: Chabcha - Tsarnak

- Accommodation: Camp near a local nomad home
Drive to Tsarnak via the highway to the northern par of Mt. Amnye Machen. Tsarnak is the start point of our trekking we will camp near a local Tibetan nomad home. Prepare to yourself.
Day 3: Halong Langri-Chu

- Distance: 24km
- Time: ≈ 8 hours
- Overnight: Camp
Trek and cross the highest pass of Mt. Amnye Machen. Tamchok Gongkar Pass is 4700 meters it is an amazing view around it as well as the holy mountain. Camp at Langri-chu.
Day 4: Trek to Mowatowa Rocky Valley
- Highest Altitude: 4300m
- Distance: 20km
- Time: ≈ 7 hours
- Overnight: Camp
Trek to the rock valley nearby Mowathowa. The Landscape is something else to see specially during snowing.
Day 5: Trek to Goku Thang Valley
- Highest Average Altitude: 4300m
- Distance: 25km
- Time: ≈ 8 hours
- Overnight: Camp
Today, we will reach the most unique spots of the Amnye Machen halfway Kora Trek. We will visit the Meditation Caves and the cliffs of Goku Thang Valley which are said to mark the entrance to the palace of the protector Machen Bomra (another name of Mt. Amnye Machen)
Day 6: Trek to Jomolangra
- Highest Altitude: 4300m
- Distance: 14km. Amnye Machen Trek
- Time: ≈ 6 hours
- Overnight: Guesthouse
Trek down through the Chushen River Gorge and Meet our driver after crossing through Jomolangra Valley. Amnye Machen trek is officially end from here. You can also trek down to Lower Tawu if you wish. Overnight in guesthouse at Lower Tawu.
Day 7: Drive Back to Xining
- Highest Altitude: 4499m
- Distance: 438km by car
- Time: ≈ 7 hours driving
