The Tibetan new year celebration will be hilarious with exuberant Cham (a ritual dance and a great volume of gatherings all through the whole time of 3-6 days. This called Monlam Festival tour, otherwise called the Great Prayer Festival is the most fantastic religious celebration in Amdo Tibet amid the new year. It has its cause in a petition meeting sorted out in Monasteries in Repkong and Labrang. A huge number of local Tibetans from far and close will gether for prayings, philosophical monk’s debate and examination for Geshe, a doctoral degree in Buddhist philosophy at cloisters and explorers will come to listen to sermons. travel through Monlam Festival will give us an opportunity to join brilliantly dressed monks in an assortment of ritual activity in Amdo. The highlight of the celebration is the ‘Uncovering of the Buddha’ function, a thangka of Buddha measuring 90 ft of length and 60 ft of width will be spread out on a slope. Day 1: Arrive in Xining

Xining, the northern east frontier of Tibet Plateau, it well represents the rich mixture of local ethnicities and offers a wide variety of sights. You will be picked from airport or train station and transferred to hotel.

Day 2-5: Drive to Repkong ( and around)

Heading to Repkong on the way we will visit Youning Gongpa. Before arriving the town, we will make a stop in Sengge-shong villages and visit two little monasteries. These two monasteries are renowned to be the heart of Buddhist Thangka paniting arts. Morevoer, we will visit Rongwo Monastery, the greatest one in the very region.

highlight of Exposing the Buddha at the Gormar Gonpa as Tibetans traditionally place a huge painting or embroidery of the Buddha Thangka on the slope of a hill to bestow the benefit of Buddhism for all the creature in the air.

The Cham Dance calls on traditions that said to be initiated by the fourth Panchen Lama, performances as sacred masked dances, music, healing chants and spectacular richly ornamented multi-colored costumes. The dancers use symbolic hand gestures known as madras to transmit healing powers from the deities.

Day 6-8: Drive to Labrang

Labrang monastery regard as the largest Buddhist school in Amdo, its new year festival rituals draw great number of pilgrims than any other monasteries, both farmers and nomads, far and near. In this special occasion people put on their traditional ornaments finest clothes, it also provides a great opportunity to see traditional customs and life style of different Tibetan communities, beside the regions ceremony. Other than mask dancing, we will join unveiling giant Buddha painting ceremony, hundreds monks and lay people will carry the appliqué from monastery to hillside to show it to the public, the entire ritual is magnificent, every year nomads from far and near will gather here for the special occasion.

9-10

Day 9-10: Labrang-Xining

On the way back to Xining, we will visit the birth place, the family house of 10th Panchen Lama. Enjoy the ritual activities in Weido monastery such as chanting with monks and spend 1night with locals here. We will drive to Xining on day 10 after noon.

Overnight 1night at Hotel in Weido, 1night in Lete Hostel when back to Xining

Day 11: Departure
