Permit Guide for Indian to Traveling in Tibet

1. Invitation Letter: 

All Indian pilgrims entering the TAR are required to hold a passport with at least six months of remaining validity. Conditions for travellers from India are must be under age of 70. Pilgrims above 70 are restricted since 2016 and they can not get a permit and might be rejecting all members in the group.

If you are coming to the TAR (Lhasa etc) from Kathmandu, you must obtain a Tibet group visa from Kathmandu or New Delhi. This is a requirement stipulated in an official agreement between China and Nepal or India.

Once you have send us all passports of members, it will take around 2 weeks to let us process the Invitation Letter & Tibet Travel Permit via the Foreign Affairs Office based in Lhasa. After that, we will send you the scanned invitation letter and you will need to go to Delhi or Kathmandu to process Tibet group visa. This will take 3-5 working days and you will need to go to the Embassy in person once.

With the invitation letter from our Tibet travel agency you will easily get Tibet group visa. The travel permit will be processed before you arrive in Tibet. It will be taking care by your Tibet tour guide during traveling in Tibet.

2. Name Lists:

A name list is very important for starting all paperworks from beginning to the end. Our travel agency in Tibet will do this according to the passports of the members. It is recommended to send us clear copies of your passports not to make any typing mistakes.

3. Border Permit: 

A border permit is also called Military Permit that is required if you are planning to travel to certain areas of Ngari, Nyingtri, and Nagchu. These are regarded as militarily sensitive areas in the TAR. This permit is issued exclusively by the Military Base, People’s Liberty Army (PLA) in Lhasa, and only through our licensed Tibet tour company. In order to apply for a military permit, we will need you to provide your passport information and your TTP. The issue of this permit normally takes 3-5 business days.
